How does On-Schedule compare to other contact managers?
A. Most Contact Managers or PIMS can be classified in
one of 3 categories: Contact-centric, Info-centric
or Schedule-centric. Most Contact Managers are contact-centric
which means that the activities center or revolve around
a specific contact record. For example, every appointment
or to-do must be tied to a specific contact record.
These contact managers are usually designed for the
sales professional and are extremely rigid in the way
information can be entered into the program and does
not allow for ad-hoc linking of information or scheduling
of appointments.
Most PIMs are Info-centric which
means that the organization of information is more
unstructured. For example, scheduling
of activities doesn’t have to revolve around a
specific contact record. These Info-centric PIMs are
usually designed for the individual user in mind who
is interested in keeping track of phone numbers and addresses
and does not need to maintain a good record of phone
calls or activities relating to a contact.
On-Schedule is basically a contact manager with powerful
information management features. These features make
On-Schedule equally contact-centric and info-centric.
Users can choose to utilize On-Schedule for its contact
management features and are also not constraint by the
rigidity of how other contact managers have to be used.
