Before synchronization can take place, an ActiveSync
connection needs to be established between the desktop
PC and the handheld PC. A guest partnership is the only
requirement for On-Schedule Sync to work.
| Requirements: Windows 98/SE/ME/2000/NT4 or higher. Pocket On-Schedule v5 or higher. Outlook

Options Tab
This tab has options on when and how to perform synchronization.
It also allows you to set up preferences and customize the way On-Schedule
Outlook Sync handles data conflicts. When all your settings have
been finalized in the other tabs, click on the “Synchronize
Now ” button to start synchronizing data back and forth.

Folders Tab
This tab allows you to select the folders to synchronize
between the On-Schedule Outlook Sync to Pocket On Schedule. You can
also set filters to synchronize only a subset of items. Check the name
of the folder in Microsoft Outlook that you would like to synchronize.
You can also click on the Filter button to define a filter to specify
the type of items to be synchronized. For example, to create a filter
to transfer only the contact records in California, select "BusinessAddressState" as
the Field, set the Operator to be "=", then type in "CA" as
the Value. Click on the Add Expression button to complete the Filter
expression. Return to the General Tab to start synchronization or to
specify conflict resolution preferences.
Email Tab
The Email Tab lets you choose if you want to synchronize
email attachments or not. You can also specify if you want to download
all your emails as text to save space.
Conflict Resolution
On-Schedule Outlook Sync provides several options for
resolving conflicts. A conflict happens when the same data field has
been modified on both the desktop and the handheld. There is an option
in On-Schedule Outlook Sync to handle data conflicts automatically
or prompt you for an action every time there is a conflict. In the
case of any conflict resolution, you will have the option to:
- Replace the Handheld item with the Desktop item

- Replace the Desktop item with the Handheld item

- Skip making any changes and don’t replace any item

There will not be any conflict if the same item
is modified on both sides but different fields are modified. This is
a unique feature to On-Schedule Sync which synchronizes folders at
the field level. For example, if the First Name is modified on the
desktop and the Company name is modified on the handheld for the same
contact, On-Schedule Sync will synchronize the changes without any
prompting.
Error Resolution
On-Schedule Outlook Sync provides several options for
resolving error resolution. Error Resolution occurs when you are trying
to sync up changes made to a Public Folder that has “Read-Only” permissions.
You will get an error for that item because you don’t have the
necessary Permissions for it. In the case of any Error Resolution,
you have the following options:
- Undo the device change

- Retry the device change during the next sync

- Skip the change and take no action
