This document is a quick guide to
using some of the exciting features of Pocket On-Schedule
v6.2 for the Handheld PC or Platform Builder running
on Windows CE 3.0 or higher with a ½ VGA or
full VGA screen size. This version of Pocket On-Schedule
has been expanded and now includes the following modules:
Calendar, Contacts, Tasks, Journal, Phone Log, Notes,
and Info Center.

Fast, Efficient,
and Versatile
Many different ways of invoking a command:
main menu options, toolbar icons, keyboard, Alt +Tap,
stylus.
Keyboard Support
Can use keyboard to invoke commands,
such as Ctrl+L to dial a contact.
View
Sensitive Menus and Icons
Pocket On-Schedule has view sensitive
menus and command bar icons. This means that each of
the views (Contacts, Calendar, Tasks, and Journal)
has its own menu and icons. The ToolTips for the icons
are displayed by keeping the stylus pressed down on
any of the icons. The main command bar is to the right
of the menu. The view command bar is the one below.

Menu Support
Press the Alt key and tap the stylus
(Alt + Tap) on the screen to access this menu in any
Pocket On Schedule view. This is the equivalent of
the right mouse click on the desktop PC.
Global
Search
Tap on Edit >Find, or Ctr+Shiftl+F.
A dialog box will appear allowing you to search on
all the fields including the Notes field. There are
options to match only on whole words and the case.

Notes
Notes can be added to any record using
inking and multiple styles. Notes are fully compatible
with Pocket Outlook. Several unique features are also
included such as Auto-Correct and Insert Date Time
stamp.
Categories
Multiple categories can be added to any
record. Categories can be filtered on and are fully
compatible with Pocket Outlook.

Contact
History
Actions such as dialing, e-mailing, faxing,
writing letters, and scheduling appointments will be
automatically linked to the contact record. Ad hoc
links can also be created for a contact, task, or activity.
Contact history is an important feature that assists
in keeping track of all historical activities for a
contact. For example, you will be able to see notes
of your previous phone calls, upcoming meetings, and
copies of correspondence to the contact, etc. During
phone calls, you can also use the schedule tab, to
view your schedule for any day, and to create new activities
from the Call dialog box.
Bi-directional
Synchronization
Full bi-directional synchronization (with
conflict resolution) of multiple contacts, calendars,
task lists, journal, notes and phone log with Desktop
On-Schedule. Also directly synchronizes multiple contacts,
calendars, task lists, journal, and notes with Microsoft
Outlook on the desktop PC.
Pocket On-Schedule comes with six list
views: Contacts, Activity List, Task List, and Journal.
These are some of the common features to all list views.
Customizable
Layouts
Can create different layouts. Tap on View > Customize
View. The Customize dialog box will then be displayed
allowing you to customize Columns, Format, Filter, Sort,
Style and Advanced.
Customizing Columns will let you select
the fields to display and the order.
Customizing Format will let you specify
the headers, column width and the text justification.
Filters will let you create filters to
restrict the view to selected criteria.
Sort will let you specify the fields
to be sorted.
Style/Summary will let you specify the
style, font type and row colors.
Advanced lets you select the font and
it gives a total Count Summary.
Sorting
(Ascending and Descending)
To sort on any field, tap on the column
header .
To sort the column in the reverse order ,
tap on the column header again.
Progressive
Search
Works on the field that is currently
sorted. This is the fastest way to find contacts, tasks,
or activities. Simply start typing the first few letters
of the text that you are looking for. For example,
to search for a contact whose last name is "Smith",
start typing "smi" and the desired contact
record will eventually be highlighted. After the "s" is
typed, the program will take you to the first record
whose last name begins with "s". After "sm" is
typed, the first record with the last name beginning
with "sm" is highlighted, and so on.
Filters
Tap on the Filters button on the command
bar, or tap on View, Select Filters. The Select Filters
dialog box will then be displayed. To create a filter
that will list only the contacts located in San Diego,
tap on the New button to add a new filter. Type in
a name for your filter (e.g. Contacts in San Diego).
Select Work City from the Available Fields, the equal
sign (=) as the Operator, and San Diego as the Value.
Tap on the Add button and the filter expression will
be entered into the box. You can add additional filter
expressions as well. Tap on the Show All icon to cancel
the filter and display all the contacts again.
To access the calendar view, tap on the
Calendar icon from
the toolbar, or tap on Go > Calendar.
Pocket On-Schedule has view-sensitive command bar icons
that change according to the view. Thus, the Calendar
view will have a different set of command bar icons
than the other views.
To show the details on any appointment or activity, double-tap on the
appointment or activity to expand the item. This will allow you to edit
and/or see the details including the date, time, description, and notes.
To create an appointment for a contact, start from the Contacts view.
Tap on the Schedule Item icon , or tap on Contact, Link/Schedule Item.
You will then have the option to schedule an activity, task, call back,
birthday, or anniversary. You can also link an existing activity by choosing
Link item to Hook from the Activity menu.
Multiple
Calendars
This feature enables you to create multiple
Calendars like Private or Shared Calendars.
Month
View - Tap on the Month
View icon ,
or View > Current View > Month View.
Tap on the left or right arrow icons on the command bar
to move back or forward one month at a time. You can
go to today’s date by tapping on the Go To Today
icon on the command bar. You can also specify a date
to go to, by tapping on the Go To Date icon from the
command bar. To see all the appointments for a particular
day, tap or press ENTER on that day, and Pocket On-Schedule
will zoom in and display the appointments for that day.
You can also zoom in/out further on that day by tapping
on the Zoom In/Out icons, or by pressing the +/- keys.
The following keyboard keys allow you to navigate in
the Month View: Left, Right, Home, End, Page Down, and
Page Up.

Calendar - Month View
Week
View - Tap on the Week View icon
, or View > Current View > Week View. Other
options display completed tasks on the calendar,
tasks without a due date, or show/hide tasks in the
Week and Month views. Bitmaps to the left of the
appointment indicate whether the appointment or activity
is a recurring event, a task, is overdue, or has
notes attached. You can tap on the left or right
arrow icons on the command bar to move back or forward.
You can go to today’s date by tapping on the
Go To Today icon on the command bar. You can also
specify a date to go to, by tapping on the Go To
Date icon from the command bar.

Calendar - Week View
Day
View - Tap on the Day View icon , or View > Current
View > Day View. Tap on the left or right arrow
icons on the command bar to move back or forward
one day at a time. You can start adding appointments
by placing the cursor at the desired time slot and
typing away.

When an activity is selected, the following dialog
will be displayed to allow for editing of the calendar
activity.

Contacts

Contacts Main View
Each contact record has 6 information
tabs; Work tab, Home tab, Phones tab, E-mail tab, Notes
tab and Status tab. To move from one tab to another,
just tap on the desired tab headers at the top of the
screen, or press Ctrl+Tab
1. Work Tab – Includes fields pertaining
to the work information for the contact.
2. Home Tab – Includes fields pertaining to the
personal information for the contact.
3. Phones Tab – Includes fields
for up to 10 different phone numbers for the contact.
4. E-mail Tab – Includes fields
for 3 e-mail addresses and 1URL.
5. Notes Tab – Includes a box for
the entry of free form notes.
6. Journal Tab – Includes a box
for Journal Entries and an option for Links.
7. Status Tab – Includes administrative
information on the contact record.

Create Sorts
Tasks
In the Tasks view, you will be able to
create new tasks, edit tasks, delete tasks, change
the status of tasks, type in notes for a task, link
tasks to a contact, link ad-hoc items to a task, and
show the links of a task. These functions are similar
to those for the Contacts view and can be accessed
by tapping on the Task menu.
To access the task list view, tap on the Tasks icon from
the toolbar, or tap on Go > Tasks. Pocket On-Schedule has view-sensitive
icons that change according to the current view. Therefore, the Task
List view
will have a different set of Command Bar icons than the other views.

Tasks Main View
In the Tasks view as in the Contacts
view, you will be able to
- customize layouts, styles and
formats
- create filters
- create links
- sort ascending and descending on columns
 For
each task, you will also be able to
- set the priority
- specify Start and Due dates
- specify the Status and Sub Status
- attach a project
- specify the percent complete
- create a reminder
- type in Notes
- specify the number of hours
- specify the owner of the task
- specify the severity
- attach a Sub Project
- attach a Sub Type
- attach a category
- send an e-mail to a recipient upon completion of the
task

Journal
The Journal view keeps track of activities
and actions. These actions can be linked to a contact.
To access the Journal view, tap on the Journal icon
from the toolbar, or tap on Go > Journal. Pocket
On-Schedule has view-sensitive icons that change according
to the current view. Therefore, the Journal view will
have a different set of Command Bar icons than the
other views.

Phone
Log
In the Phone Log view, you will be able
to create new phone calls, edit phone call logs, delete
phone calls. To access the task list view, tap on the
Phone log icon from the toolbar, or tap on Go > Phone
Log. Pocket On-Schedule has view-sensitive icons that
change according to the current view. Therefore, the
Phone Log view will have a different set of Command
Bar icons than the other views.
In the Phone Log view as in the Contacts
view, you will be able to
- customize layouts, styles and formats
- create filters
- create links
- sort ascending and descending on
columns
When a phone call is selected, the following
dialog will be displayed to allow for editing of the
phone call.

Notes
In the Notes view, you will be able to
create new free form notes. To access the Notes view,
tap on the Notes icon from the toolbar, or tap on Go > Notes.
Pocket On-Schedule has view-sensitive icons that change

than the other views.
You can create and group Notes according
to topic or category. For example, you can create a
group of notes pertaining to driving locations to different
destinations.

Information
Center
In the Info Center view, you will be
able to organize your documents. To access the Info
Center view, tap on the Info Center icon from the toolbar,
or tap on Go > Info Center. Pocket On-Schedule has
view-sensitive icons that change according to the current
view. Therefore, the Info Center view will have a different
set of Command Bar icons than the other views.
You can create and group Notes according to topic or category. For example,
you can create a group of notes pertaining to driving locations to different
destinations.
